A beach bar ordering system that starts at the sunbed

See how it works

Volio is a beach bar ordering system for the bar on the sand, the beach club and the hotel pool bar. Every sunbed gets its own code: guests scan it, order and pay on their phone, and the order reaches the bar with the sunbed's number on it. Your runner crosses the sand once, with the tray.

Real screens from Honest, Volio's demo venue: a restaurant with two zones, Inner and Garden. On a beach, a zone is a row of sunbeds and a place is one sunbed.

How ordering to the sunbed works

Four steps, and nobody leaves the shade. A place is anything you give a number: a sunbed, a cabana, a stool at the bar. By a pool, a lounger is numbered the same way.

Step 1

Draw the beach and number the sunbeds

In Tables & QR you draw each zone and name it yourself: Front row, Second row, Cabanas, Pool. Every sunbed gets a number and its own QR code, and the whole beach prints in one go.

The demo venue's plan has tables in Garden and Inner. A row of sunbeds is drawn and numbered the same way.

Step 2

The guest scans from the sunbed

The code opens your menu in the phone's browser, with photos, allergens and each dish's options. The family on 14 reads it in German, the couple on 15 in French. Friends on neighbouring sunbeds order together from their own phones.

Step 3

They pay before the drink leaves the bar

Apple Pay, Google Pay or card, with the tip added before paying, and each guest can pay their own part. The order reaches the bar marked paid. Nobody chases a tab down the beach at sunset.

The demo venue's orders board: orders being made and ready, each marked Paid and showing where it came from
Table 11 ordered from a guest's phone and shows "Guest (QR)", paid. On the sand, the number is a sunbed's.

Step 4

The bar makes it, the runner carries it

Each ticket shows its place's number and zone, with a timer. With kitchen places, the cocktails go to the bar's screen and the club sandwiches to the kitchen's. Tap Done when the tray leaves.

14:00, sixty sunbeds, one runner

On a beach the lunch rush is a walking problem. An order taken by hand costs two trips across hot sand, one to hear it and one to bring it. Here's the same hour when the sunbeds order for themselves. Sixty sunbeds. One runner. Full trays only.

  1. 11:30

    The beach fills up

Towels down, umbrellas up. The code sits on the side table or the umbrella pole, so the menu is in reach before anyone looks around for a waiter.

  2. 14:00

    Everyone is hungry at once

Twenty sunbeds order inside ten minutes. The tickets line up on the bar's screen in the order they came, each with its row and number. Nobody stands up and waves.

  3. 14:10

    The runner only carries

No notepad and no card machine in the apron. Every trip out of the bar is a full tray, going to numbers.

  4. 17:30

    One more round before sunset

The second round is the same code and a few taps. Guests who paid as they went pack up whenever they like.

What the bar and the runner see

Volio runs in the browser of the phones and tablets you already own. No hardware to buy, and nothing to bolt to an umbrella pole.

The demo venue's floor: the zones Inner and Garden, table 6 seated for 54 minutes, and its tab with total, paid and left

The floor

Your rows as you drew them. Which places are taken, for how long, and what's still open on each tab.

Waiter mode for the demo venue: 24 numbered places as tiles, one of them seated

Waiter mode

The same places as tiles on the runner's phone, for the guest who would rather order from a person.

Languages: the menu in English and Greek, with Fill in by machine and every line editable

Every guest's language

The menu opens in the language on the guest's phone. Translated by machine, every line yours to edit.

The POS total, paid by the guest's phone, cash or the card terminal

Cash still works

Take the money by the guest's phone, cash or your card terminal, whichever the sunbed prefers.

Dishes in the back office, each with its price, how many sold and an on/off switch

Sold out in one tap

The grilled octopus is gone at 15:00. Switch it off once and it leaves every phone on the beach.

Booking rules: guests can book online, the times offered and how far ahead

Sunbeds booked ahead

Guests book a sunbed or a table from your own page, by the rules you set, with a deposit.

What Volio is not

  • Not a sunbed marketplace

Volio doesn't rent out sunbeds and has no map of beaches. Guests book a sunbed or a table from your own page, and that's where it stops.

  • Not room service

At a hotel pool, Volio takes the order from the lounger and the payment on the phone. It doesn't do room service or charge to a room.

  • Not a box of hardware

No hardware is sold. The bar's screen is a tablet, or a TV with a small Android TV box, and cloud ticket printers are an option for a bar that likes paper.

How do you want to pay?

Questions owners ask

Something else? hello@usevolio.com

Does every sunbed need its own QR code?

Yes. Each code belongs to one numbered place, so an order arrives with its number and the runner knows which sunbed to walk to. If you can number it, it can order. A sunbed, a cabana and a stool at the bar each get a code. All the codes print in one go from Tables & QR.

Does it work at a hotel pool?

Yes. A lounger is a numbered place like a sunbed, with its own code. Volio doesn't do room service or charge to a room.

Do guests have to download an app?

No. The code opens the menu in the phone's browser, and guests order and pay right there. Nothing to install and no account to make.

Can guests still pay cash?

Yes. Your team takes the guest's phone, cash or your card terminal. Phone payments go to your own account with the payment provider, then to your bank. Volio takes a small fee on a bill paid by phone. Guests see it before they pay, or you switch to covering it. Nothing when a guest pays cash or the waiter.

Can guests book a sunbed ahead?

Yes, from your own page, by the rules you set: the times offered, how far ahead, the party size, and a deposit if you want one. Volio isn't a rental marketplace. Bookings come with the Essential plan.

Most of our guests are tourists. Will they read the menu?

The menu opens in the guest's own language. Translations are filled in by machine and you can edit every line, so the house cocktail keeps the name you gave it.

What does the bar need to run it?

A tablet, a phone, or a TV with a small Android TV box. No hardware to buy. Menu boards run on the same TV box, and cloud ticket printers are an option.

When can we start?

Today. Pick a plan and your first 30 days are Pro, free. A card is needed, and you can cancel any time.
